In Japanese schools, the students don’t get ANY exams until they reach grade four (the age of 10)! Why?
Because the goal for the first 3 years of schools is NOT to judge the child’s knowledge or learning, but to establish good manners and to develop their character! Yes, that’s what our scholars taught us: Manners BEFORE knowledge!
My advice is to abandon the passion mindset which asks “What does this job offer me? Am I happy with this job? Is it giving me everything I want?” Shift from that mindset to Steve Martin’s mindset, which is “What am I offering the world? How valuable am I? Am I really not that valuable? If I’m not that valuable, then I shouldn’t expect things in my working life. How can I get better?“
Like a craftsman, you find satisfaction in the development of your skill and then you leverage that skill once you have it to take control of your working life and build something that’s more long-term and meaningful… When I talk about the habits of the craftsman mindset, it’s really the habits of deliberate practice. So someone who has the craftsman mindset is trying to systematically build up valuable skills because that’s going to be their leverage, their capital for taking control of their career and they share the same habits you would see with violin players or athletes or chess players.
The craftsmen out there are not the guys checking their social media feeds every five minutes. They’re not looking for the easy win or the flow-state. They’re the guys that are out there three hours, pushing the skill. “This is hard but I’m going to master this new piece of software. I’m going to master this new mathematical framework.” That’s the mindset, the habit of the craftsman.
This.

Anyone want to meet up next week in Singapore? – Read on Path.
Today, got this LEGACY leather camera hand wrist strap from Tap & Dye. Just used it to walkaround at night in few minutes. First thing I notice that this is thicker and stiffer. I still like the stiffness of my cheap previous leather strap, however this is wider and looks more solid. The emboss are prefect and the metal is solid. This is the quality that I’m looking for.
This should be long lasting for years since it’s thick and stiff. We’ll see about that. Can’t take a picture the strap when plugged on my X100S since I don’t bring my D7K. But I’ll post it later. You can see this instagram post for a while.. Let’s see how comfort this when used in hours.
Note: The black–what is that called– on the picture #3 is not included. But I suggest that they provide this so it will be easier for you to mount this strap to your camera.
For some cruel reason, I keep finding myself in the position of being introduced to things in their infancy (often before they are even launched), dismissing them as stupid, and then watching them become unbelievably popular. This has happened to me at least four times. Each time I vow never to call anything stupid again, and then, invariably, it happens again. I’m not sure if there’s any lesson here other than a warning against arrogance, but I have two stories to share.
This also happen to me. I regret everytime I underestimate some ideas that landed in my inbox. I see some of them already big right now.
After that I always learn that it’s your responsible to make a product work better & beautifully no matter how shallow & ridiculous the ideas. You might haven’t seen it yet.
Be positive
It’s been more than a year I took picture of everything. I bought my first dslr Nikon D7000 on January last year and I almost took a picture everyday. I run 365 project that alomst end soon. And I just realized I took lot of pictures of people.

The card placement is not as easy as D7000 or 600D but it’s OK.
