How to Pick the Right Typeface for Better Conversions
Don’t let expressiveness affect usefulness. Clicking on that “font” option, we are presented with so many varieties that it is almost like being in a candy story. However, it is important to remember that intricate typefaces are not always the easiest to read. Yes, they may look pretty, but pretty does not always equal sales.
Remember that the typeface you choose should complement the text, instead of overpower it. After reading your copy, people should remember your message or call to action, not the typeface.
When it comes to pairing typefaces, you can do it through two principles – correspondence and contrast.
It’s been a year+ I’m here in wego as UI/UX Designer and so far I can say it’s a rollercoaster experience. Got a chance working on a lot of things from ads to iphone app, newsletter to responsive design. Collaborating with different teams, BUs, managements, devs. Been through few projects that got shutdown, but also some crucial projects that are launched.
It’s a learning experience and also a good progress that at the beginning of the year I can contribute to some projects thay resulted in boost in our revenue. From make the site responsive (we support more than 20+ language!) to finally launch the iOS & Android apps. It’s good that we’re not soo late for this.
Now it’s time for me to be more serious to make this better. Previously is just about to get it done & works, but this time it’s all about making it right & beautiful. I can wait to put all my thoughts & skills here and I couldn’t be happier that I also can playaround with data. Data driven design is always something I want to experiment with. Hopefully the ride is smooth now.
If the old design sets the tone about what’s important, then you may be losing out on an opportunity to make a significant leap forward. A design should never set the tone – ideas should set the tone. Ideas are independent of the design. —Jason Fried,
As UI/ UX designer, I believe presenting interactions is more important than presenting static image. Static image is good to observe the details, but interactions show you how it works in easy way.
That’s why this year, I will learn more anything about interactions. This include understanding what is good interaction looks like, when to use it and how we design it. For a baby step I jumped back to After effect, Adobe Edge and CSS/JS to dive in and see what each can offer. I believe it’s more fun & esier to present it in AE after you design a mockup. But Edge, CSS/JS have strong benefit if you also code the entire design.
I will share more about my journey on this study. In the mean time you can see what I’ve played with basic interaction in AE here.
To produce this image I learned how to:
Organize & prepare assets. Since I use sketch a lot recently, I need to know what image/ assets that need to be generated to get the interactions I want
Create Basic composition
Motion Blur effect
Edit curve (really helpful if you want to have an easing effect)
Render & export
Stay tune for some updates. or leave comment on the post :)

Street 1: Gallery of photos taken by the photographer Vivian Maier. One of multiple galleries on the official Vivian Maier website.
This is amazing. If you really photography especially streets you definitely check this out. What more special about it is that this works was not published by the photographer it self. It was started here when John Maloof bought thousands negative films from small auction in Chicago. It is the work of Vivian Maier , French born photographer who past away in April of 2009 in Chicago, where she resided. He then open a blog about here (click the link) and then start a kickstarter campaign for her. It was one of the successful kick starter campaign in 2013.
